The Mussey Township Fire Department was established in 1888. Today, the Mussey Township Fire Department has 33 members. Of these 33 members, 30 hold Fire Fighter I and II certifications. In addition, 10 are licensed as Medical First Responders, 6 are licensed Emergency Medical Technicians, and 2 are licensed Paramedics.

 

Our department recently created a specialized Medical team in addition to our already medically trained fire fighters. This team will be used to enhance our medical responses. In 2006, 6 members of the department competed in Roscommon at the Michigan State Firemen’s Memorial Extrication Competition. They placed 2^nd in the state in extrication.  Our team also has 6 certified Ice Rescue Technicians.

 

Funding for the department is provided by Mussey Township taxpayers. The Mussey Township Fire Department currently holds an Insurance Services Organization (ISO) rating of a 5, one of few in this area.
